Details: The European Parliament approved an urgent procedure for providing Ukraine with a loan of 90 billion euros over the next two years.

The European Parliament decided that three documents will be approved under the urgent procedure:
1) Regarding expanded cooperation in creating a loan for Ukraine.
2) Regulation on the implementation of enhanced cooperation regarding the establishment of a support loan for Ukraine for 2026 and 2027.
3) On amendments to Regulation 2024/792 on the creation of the Fund for Ukraine (Ukraine Facility).
The first of them – the basic one, which allows to create a loan for Ukraine based on the mechanism of extended cooperation with the EU – has already been approved by the Council of the EU and will be immediately put to a vote for approval by the European Parliament.
According to the information of “European Truth”, the draft decision “On granting permission for extended cooperation regarding the establishment of a loan for Ukraine” will be voted on by the European Parliament already tomorrow, January 21.
The other two draft laws must go through the approval procedure in the Council of the EU and the European Parliament, and will be put to the vote at the next session of the European Parliament on February 9-12, 2026.
As “European Truth” reported, the European Commission on Wednesday, January 14, adopted a package of legislative proposalswhich will allow Ukraine to receive a loan of 90 billion euros from the European Union to meet its financial and military needs in 2026 and 2027.
On the same day, the Committee of Permanent Representatives at the level of ambassadors in Brussels heard the presentation of these proposals – and the result of the discussion some diplomats had technical questions.
