The Energy Support Fund of Ukraine has accumulated almost €1.7 billion and plans to attract another €380 million to cover the current needs of Ukrainian energy companies in the face of constant Russian attacks on energy infrastructure facilities.

Artur Lorkovsky, director of the Energy Community (EC) Secretariat, said this at the World Economic Forum in Davos.

“Russia continues to attack, and these needs keep growing and growing. In November last year, a deficit of funds of about €400 million was announced, and we covered that deficit. But since the attacks continue again, a deficit of €380 million has arisen again,” Lorkovsky noted.

According to him, the deficit was calculated based on the requests of Ukrainian energy companies, taking into account transformers, cables, pipes and other types of energy equipment.

“We know what to do and we do it every day. But we need funds. And we will talk about it in Davos, and with corporations, and with donors who could join and help,” added the director of the EU Secretariat.

Lorkovsky also reported that 30 donors are involved in financing the Fund, and more than 1,000 contracts are already being implemented. The Fund works with 60 Ukrainian energy companies that come under fire, and the supply of energy equipment is carried out every week.

We will remind, Great Britain allocates an additional 20 million pounds sterling (23 million euros) to Ukraine to support the energy infrastructure. The funds are planned to be used for the purchase of critically needed equipment and materials for emergency repairs. London’s total aid now stands at £164m (around €190m).
