The corresponding decision was made by Oleg Bilotserkivets, the investigating judge of the Pechersk Court, who satisfied the request of the prosecutor Oleksandr Ganilov. The prosecutor’s office justified the need to extend the terms due to the “exceptional complexity of the proceedings.”
At the same time, the Anti-Corruption Center points out that it is not clear what exactly this difficulty is, since only four investigative actions have been carried out in the case since the previous extension of time. 65 investigators and 42 prosecutors are involved in the investigation, which, according to the CPC, calls into question the arguments about exceptional complexity.
The Center also draws attention to the fact that the judge granted the petition despite the absurdity of the accusations and minimal progress in the investigation. They reminded that the mechanism for extending the investigation period through the court is a consequence of the so-called “Lozovoy amendments”, which were supposed to prevent unjustified prosecution. However, this case, according to the CPC, demonstrates that judicial control in such cases does not work.
