This was stated by the Prime Minister of the country Andrey Babish, Reuters cites.

In this way, the politician rejected the plan for the transfer of aircraft, which was proposed by the President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel. During his visit to Kyiv, the Czech leader said that his country could provide several aircraft in a short period of time, and also added that Ukraine offered to purchase several L-159 subsonic aircraft.

At the same time, Babis emphasized that the Czech army needs these planes, so they cannot be handed over.

“These planes are unavailable, and we don’t have any others,” the prime minister added.

Reuters recalled that Babish promised not to provide military aid to Ukraine and refused to finance the European Union loan for Kyiv in December.

“The potential agreement with Ukraine regarding the planes was criticized by Babish’s coalition partners from the far-right pro-Russian SPD party,” the article noted.

Babish also said that Prague’s position has not changed, because the previous government, which had a more pro-Ukrainian position, also rejected the option of sending L-159 planes to Kyiv.

What is known about the transfer of Czech aircraft to UkraineEarlier, Petr Pavel said that the Czech Republic will hand over fighter jets to Ukraine to fight against Russian drones. Then he stressed that this issue can be resolved “quickly and successfully”.

In turn, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Petr Matsinka criticized Pavel’s statement about the planes to Ukraine. In particular, he called the actions of the head of state “the behavior of an elephant in a china shop.”

According to the diplomat, the president of the Czech Republic did not consult with the government when he made a statement about the transfer of aircraft to Ukraine during his visit to Kyiv.
