On January 18, 2026, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi reported on the positive dynamics in the mobilization process, noting a significant improvement in the indicators of unit manning compared to mid-2025.
In an interview with LB.ua, the general emphasized that such a result was possible thanks to the reform of the work of the territorial recruitment centers (TCC) and the change in the military command’s approach to new recruits. The main task at the moment is to humanize the process of a person’s transition from civilian life to the army, since it is the dignified treatment of mobilized people that is the key to reducing the level of offenses such as voluntary desertion.
According to Syrskyi, Russian propaganda actively uses the topic of mobilization as a tool of information warfare, trying to discredit the Ukrainian army and sow panic among the population. However, the real numbers testify to the stabilization of the system, which is now more focused on quality training and psychological comfort of the fighter. The Commander-in-Chief emphasized that where the commanders provide normal human behavior, the level of discipline is the highest, and the combat capability of the units allows to effectively maintain the operational initiative.
These steps are part of Ukraine’s general strategy for 2026, which includes not only defense, but also preparation for offensive operations. The modernization of mobilization processes, together with the involvement of the latest technologies and robotic systems, should provide the Defense Forces with the necessary resource to exhaust the enemy. Syrskyi is convinced that the strengthening of trust between the society and the army is the foundation for the further de-occupation of the territories and opposition to Russia’s plans for the full occupation of the country.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Oleksandr explained in detail the position of the military command regarding the size of the army within the new peace plan. According to him, 800,000 servicemen are the “red line” that allows Ukraine not only to maintain its defense capability, but also to continue planned mobilization for rotations and replenishment of reserves without external restrictions.
Earlier, Syrskyi stated that Russia is not ready to stop the war.
