From January 1, 2026, the national program “Health Screening 40+” became operational in Ukraine.
It allows people over the age of 40 to detect the risks of cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes and mental health problems free of charge.
The initiative of the Ministry of Health is based on the recommendations of evidence-based medicine and European practices.
The program started on time — every day more than 1,000 Ukrainians die from cardiovascular diseases, which cause 60% of premature deaths. About half of the 1.2 million people with diabetes are unaware of their diagnosis.
Risks rise sharply after 40, and war exacerbates mental health problems for up to 10 million people.
Participants receive a personal invitation 30 days after their birthday.
“Diya” users receive push notifications, order a Diya.Card — and within a week, UAH 2,000 will be received for it exclusively for screening. Without “Action”, they turn to TsNAP and the bank for a similar account.
The screening includes questionnaires to assess the risks of cardiovascular disease, diabetes and mental health. Includes physical examination — measurement of pressure, pulse, anthropometry.
Laboratory tests check the functioning of the heart, blood vessels, and kidneys.
As a reminder, the state will pay 2,000 hryvnias for a medical examination for Ukrainians aged 40 and over.
The government also allocated UAH 10 billion for the medical screening program for people 40+.
