According to the decision, agents of the Department of Homeland Security and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) may not use tear gas or other “means of crowd dispersal against individuals participating in peaceful protests.” The ban also applies to stopping cars following protesters if they keep a safe and “proper” distance.
Politico writes that representatives of the White House and the US Department of Justice did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the decision, but the administration of US President Donald Trump may seek to appeal the decision as soon as possible.
However, amid the escalation of Operation Metro Surge, the Justice Department has begun scrutinizing two of Trump’s most vocal critics in Minnesota — Gov. Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey — for possible obstruction of immigration agents, according to the publication.

We will remind:
- In Minneapolis, an employee of the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) shot and killed a woman who, according to the American authorities, ran over law enforcement officers.
- At the same time, the city mayor categorically denied this interpretation of events. He called the actions of federal agents “dangerous and irresponsible.” According to the mayor, the video recording of the incident does not support ICE’s version.
