Christian Bale in the movie “The Bride” / screenshot from YouTubeFilm company Warner Bros. released the full trailer for the sci-fi horror film The Bride, in which Oscar-winning Christian Bale (“American Psycho,” “The Driver,” “Power,” “Ford vs. Ferrari,” the “Dark Knight” franchise) plays Frankenstein’s monster.
The events of the new film, inspired by the classic novel of the English writer Mary Shelley “Frankenstein, or the Modern Prometheus” of the early 19th century, take place in the 1930s. Frankenstein’s lonely monster arrives in Chicago to ask the eminent scientist Dr. Euphronius to create a companion for him. Together they revive the murdered young woman – and the Bride is born. But events quickly spiral out of control: a scientific experiment turns into an explosive mixture of outcast love, cultural revolution, obsession and crimes that challenge the very idea of life and death.
The new trailer features Florence + The Machine’s “Everybody Scream” as the soundtrack.
Bale’s partner on the screen was Jessie Buckley (“The Strange Daughter”, “The Mankind”, the series “Chernobyl”, “Fargo”), who recently received the Golden Globe for the best female role in the film “Hamnet”.
In addition, the film starred Jake Gyllenhaal (“Donnie Darko”, “Zodiac”, “Captives”, “Spider-Man: Far From Home”), Penelope Cruz (“All About My Mother”, “Vanilla Sky”, “Vicky Cristina Barcelona”, “Escobar”, “Parallel Mothers”), Peter Sarsgaard (“Boys Don’t Cry”, “The Price of Truth”, “Stranger Daughter”, “Batman”), Annette Bening (“Tossed”, “American Beauty”, “Captain Marvel”, “Death on the Nile”) and others.
The film was directed by the American actress Maggie Gyllenhaal (“Donnie Darko”, “The Secretary”, “The Dark Knight”), for whom this is the second full-length directorial work after “The Stranger’s Daughter” in 2021.
The film will be released in Ukraine on March 5, 2026, the press service of film distributor Kinomania Film Distribution reported.
