According to the bureau, the businessman left the country on November 10, 2025 around two o’clock in the morning — a few hours before the detectives came to search him, Censor.NET writes.
An analysis of the seized phones of the other persons involved showed that Mindich’s assistants ordered a private transfer to the Warsaw airport on the morning of November 9, which refutes the version of a spontaneous escape due to a sudden leak of information and indicates a pre-prepared plan.
Operation “Midas” refers to a large-scale corruption scheme at “Energoatom”, through which, according to law enforcement officers, about $100 million was legalized by receiving “kickbacks” from contractors of the state enterprise. As part of the investigation, more than 70 searches were conducted, including in the residence of the former Minister of Energy Herman Galushchenko, and significant amounts of cash were seized. In the audio recordings made public by NABU, Mindich appears under the code name “Carlson” and, according to the investigation, together with Oleksandr Zukerman (“Sugarman”) managed an underground “back office” that determined the winners of tenders for a strategic enterprise.
Timur Mindich is currently in Israel and has officially announced that he does not plan to return to Ukraine, calling the accusations falsified. Due to his stay abroad, Ukrainian investigators do not have the opportunity to conduct a direct interrogation, and the information about the possible involvement of the FBI in procedural actions in Israel remains a secret of the pre-trial investigation. Despite the absence of the main person involved, the High Anti-Corruption Court has already chosen preventive measures for other members of the group, in particular, the former adviser to the Minister of Energy Ihor Myronyuk, setting a bail of UAH 126 million, which emphasizes the scale of the damage caused to the state.
Mindich, a figure in the Energoatom case, may be involved in the purchase of low-quality body armor for the army.
