Details: According to the investigation, members of the group came to entrepreneurs and residents of Alexandria and demanded money that they allegedly owed them. Such “visits” were regular and accompanied by threats. The amounts of fictitious “debts” ranged from $3,000 to $10,000. In case of refusal to give money, the members of the so-called “Rusky” gang took away the property.
On January 13, operatives of the strategic investigations department in the Kirovohrad region of the National Police together with the employees of the regional SBU department with the force support of the soldiers of the special purpose police company and the SBU special unit “Alpha” detained a criminal authority and five members of his gang while receiving $3,000 in so-called “debt” from the victim.
During the searches, law enforcement officers seized cars, cash, various types of weapons, ammunition, telescopic and rubber batons, zip bags with a white substance, probably amphetamine, as well as other physical evidence.
photo of the prosecutor’s office On the basis of the collected evidence, the investigators notified the leader of the organized criminal group and five of its members of suspicion under Part 4 of Art. 189 (Extortion) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Currently, the detainees are in a temporary detention center and are waiting for preventive measures to be taken. After carrying out expert studies of the removed actions, the perpetrators may be additionally qualified, the DSR notes.
The prosecutor’s office indicates that two more members of the gang are currently hiding from justice.
