Details: The list of countries reportedly includes Russia, Somalia, Afghanistan, Brazil, Iran, Iraq, Egypt, Nigeria, Thailand, Yemen and others.

The order comes into effect on January 21. The restrictions are in place indefinitely until the State Department re-evaluates visa processing.
In November 2025, the US State Department issued a directive to consular officials to introduce sweeping new screening rules in line with increased immigration enforcement. The guidelines instruct consular officers to deny visas to applicants who are believed to be relying on public benefits from the US government.
Currently, the US authorities are tightening entry and immigration controls. According to reports, among other things, a proposal is under consideration to compel tourists to give border guards access to their social media posts from the past five years.
We will remind: US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said in May that the Trump administration plans to revoke the visas of Chinese students, particularly those with ties to the Chinese Communist Party or studying majors in strategically important fields.
