Agency sources say that the meeting may take place this month. At the same time, they warned that the plans have not yet been finalized, and the terms may change due to events in Iran, which has been engulfed in large-scale protests.
A representative of the White House said that no such meeting is currently planned. The Kremlin did not respond to a request for comment.
According to one of the sources, it remains unclear how interested Putin is in this second meeting with representatives of the Trump team, and that appears to be the main obstacle to setting a date.
Putin is expected to be presented with the latest draft of the 20-point plan for a peaceful settlement, which was worked on by representatives of Ukraine and the United States, the sources added.
Witkoff and Kushner visited Moscow and met with Putin in December. During this trip, the negotiations lasted almost five hours, but did not bring a breakthrough.
Witkoff met with Putin in Russia six times last year.
As European Truth reported, on January 6, representatives of 35 countries and organizations met in Paris to finalize work on security guarantees for Ukraine. According to the results of the meeting, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron and President Volodymyr Zelenskyi signed the declaration on intentions to deploy troops in Ukraine in the event of a peace agreement.
On the American side, the special representative of the US President Steve Witkoff and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner attended the meeting.
In addition, Witkoff stated about significant progress after the meeting of the “coalition of the determined” in Paris.
