“Mark Rushbrook urged not to overestimate expectations for the new Red Bull car”, — write: sport.ua
In 2026, new rules will enter into force in F-1, which provide for significant changes in aerodynamics and power plants. It was within these changes that Ford began a technical partnership with the Red Bull division.
According to Rushbrook, the collaboration has gone far beyond the original plans, which only concerned the electrical part of the power plant.
“When we arrived, they said that Ford would focus on the electric component. That is where the main efforts were directed.
But later we were able to add our expertise in control and calibration systems to effectively combine the internal combustion engine with electrification. We can also manufacture individual components at our plants, in particular for diesel engines.
The project is managed from Milton Keynes, but we have provided all the resources that can strengthen the team,” he noted.
Earlier in the paddock there were rumors that Mercedes and Red Bull allegedly found a technical advantage in power plants related to the degree of compression, which could give them an advantage at the start of the new regulation cycle.
However, Rushbrook emphasized that advantage in one component does not guarantee high speed on the track.
“We’ll see. Success requires many components: a good car, a powerful engine that works efficiently in both thermal and electric modes, reliability, correct calibration. An advantage in one area does not mean an advantage in everything.
There are many opportunities for development, and the key challenge is to make the entire powertrain work as a unit,” concluded the Ford representative.
