He noted that exactly such a system is necessary now for the Ukrainian energy industry. This is important so that after each Russian strike we can promptly restore what was destroyed and that the development of the Ukrainian energy industry is stable and sufficient for Ukrainian needs.
As you know, from March 4, 2020 to July 15, 2025, Shmyhal was the Prime Minister of Ukraine.
On July 16, 2025, the President of Ukraine submitted documents to the parliament on the appointment of Shmyhal as Minister of Defense. On July 17, the Verkhovna Rada approved Yulia Svyridenko as Prime Minister, and Shmyhal became Minister of Defense.
