Busfield said he traveled to Albuquerque after he “got the call Friday night.”
“I had to get a lawyer,” he added. “Saturday I got in the car, drove 2,000 miles to Albuquerque. I’m gonna confront these lies. They’re horrible.”
He continued, “They’re all lies and I did not do anything to those little boys and I’m gonna fight it. I’m gonna fight it with a great team, and I’m gonna be exonerated, I know I am, because this is all so wrong and all lies. So hang in there and hopefully I’m out real soon and back to work. I love everybody for supporting me, thank you.”
The charges and arrest follow alleged incidents involving two underage actors on the set of the Warner Bros. Television and Fox Entertainment series The Cleaning Ladywhich aired on Fox, between late 2022 and early 2024, where Busfield served as a director. An affidavit from an Albuquerque police investigation alleged sexual abuse involving two boys on the set of the series.
One of the children told an interviewer Busfield touched him for the first time when he was seven years old, on set. He detailed another incident that took place when he was eight years old, again on set.
As part of the police investigation, Busfield told Warner Bros. Television conducted their own investigation into the child sexual abuse claims. The affidavit pointed to a 2025 investigation following SAG-AFTRA receiving an anonymous complaint relating to an alleged separate incident on the set of The Cleaning Lady in December 2024.
WB TV in an earlier statement obtained by The Hollywood Reporter stated: “The health and safety of our cast and crew is always our top priority, especially the safety of minors on our productions. We take all allegations of misconduct very seriously and have systems in place to promptly and thoroughly investigate, and when needed, take appropriate action. We are aware of the current charges against Mr. Busfield and have been and will continue to cooperate with law enforcement.”
