The United Kingdom and Poland have agreed to work more closely together to prevent air and missile threats, as they seek to strengthen the defense of their skies, Politico reports.

According to these publications, British and Polish military personnel will train together in virtual environments to improve air defense techniques, and eight Polish military helicopter pilots will undergo training in Britain under the NATO military aviation program.

Two Polish helicopter pilot instructors will be permanently stationed at RAF Shawbury in the West Midlands. This was announced during the visit of Polish President Karol Nawrocki to Downing Street on Tuesday.

British Defense Secretary John Gealey called Poland “an important ally for Britain in this era of growing threats” and said that together they are “increasing Europe’s defense capabilities and countering the threat from (Vladimir) Putin.”

British fighter jets flew an air defense mission over Poland as part of a joint allied response to a Russian drone incursion into Polish airspace, with pilots from both countries flying together as part of NATO’s Eastern Sentinel mission.

In September 2025, 19 drones flew into Polish airspace. Poland shot down three of them. Polish President Karol Nawrocki called the invasion of Russian drones into Polish airspace an attempt by Russia to test the reaction of Warsaw and NATO.

On the other hand, Russia declared that they do not attack EU or NATO states with drones or missiles.
