In December, the number of attempts to illegally cross the state border of Ukraine decreased by approximately 20% compared to November.

This was announced by the spokesman of the State Border Service of Ukraine Andriy Demchenko during a briefing in Kyiv.

“Comparing, for example, December with November, this is a decrease of about 20%. That is, weather conditions affect how people try to cross the border illegally or plan for themselves. And in general, we began to record a decrease since September,” Demchenko noted.

According to him, there is no tendency to increase the number of such attempts in January either.

“In fact, there are rare cases when we find people with fake documents or when they try to falsify the terms of their departure. The majority of attempts, after all, take place outside checkpoints,” explained the spokesperson of the DPSU.

We will remind, recently in the forest massif in the north of the Rivne region, border guards prevented an attempt to illegally cross the state border and saved two Ukrainians who got lost due to severe frost.
