In response to the agency’s request, the French Foreign Ministry said that the embassy had “reorganized the mission so that it could fulfill its duties under the current conditions.”
“The ambassador and a critical team remain in place to provide assistance to citizens who are in Iran,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
The decision to evacuate the personnel was made due to the rapid increase in the level of violence.
The security forces of the Ayatollah regime use lethal weapons against civilians. Human rights organization Iran Human Rights (IHR) confirmed 648 people died, including nine children. At the same time, human rights defenders warn: the real number of victims may exceed six thousand people.
On the website of the French Embassy an instruction appearedwhich resembles the rules of survival in a combat zone. Citizens are advised to:
- stock up on water and food;
- absolutely avoid any movements at night, and during the day exercise maximum vigilance;
- take into account that telephone communication and the Internet do not work in the country.
Emergency evacuation of diplomats and calls to leave often precede the start of large-scale hostilities or foreign military intervention.
What preceded:
- Mass protests have been ongoing in Iran since the end of December 2025, which began due to the economic crisis and turned into an anti-government uprising. According to human rights defenders, the number of dead has already exceeded 500 peoplemore than 10 thousand were arrested.
- On January 12, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sweden and the US State Department called on their citizens to immediately leave the territory of Iran due to the rapid deterioration of the security situation.
- US President Donald Trump supported the Iranian people and threatened military intervention if the killings of civilians continued.
- The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, called the events in Iran an “insurrection” and called on the world to help the Iranians overthrow the regime that supplies Russia with weapons.
