In being named TV’s top drama, The Pitt (HBO Max) beat out some other streaming hits: The Diplomat (Netflix), Pluribus (Apple TV), Severance (Apple TV), Slow Horses (Apple TV) and The White Lotus (HBO Max).
It’s no fluke, of course. Earlier on Sunday, Noah Wyle won best actor in a drama series for his starring role. En route to the stage for The Pitt‘s big series win, Wyle embraced his former ER co-star George Clooney in a hug. The reunion has been a full weekend hang: Wyle and Clooney spent Saturday honoring each other at the AARP awards.
Will the renewed love affair result in a scripted on-air reunion? “Obviously,” Clooney would be “welcome” to appear on The PittHBO and HBO Max chief Casey Bloys told The Hollywood Reporter in November.
That other HBO Max show, The White Lotushad the most opportunities across the TV categories with six 2026 Golden Globes nominations. Adolescence (a limited series) had five; Only Murders in the Building (a comedy) and Severance each had four.
The full list of Sunday’s winners — all 28 — is here.
Shogun won best drama series (and a whole bunch of other honors) last year; find all of those winners here. The FX (for Hulu) series defeated The Day of the Jackal (Peacock), The Diplomat (Netflix), Mr. & Mrs. Smith (Prime Video), Slow Horses (Apple TV+) and Squid Game (Netflix). Only The Diplomat and Slow Horses were repeat nominees; Succession (Apple TV) won the trophy in 2024.
Comedian Nikki Glaser returned Sunday to host the Golden Globes for the second year in a row. The longtime comic’s mainstream breakout moment came as a performer in 2024 Roast of Tom Brady on Netflix. Also returning to the Globes were showrunners/executive producers Glenn Weiss and Ricky Kirshner of White Cherry Entertainment.
