The Minister of Defense of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal and the Minister of Defense of Great Britain John Geely signed today in Kyiv a road map for the development of the century-old partnership in the defense sphere.

As Shmyhal said in a telegram, the document establishes defense cooperation in 2026 in a number of key security areas. According to Shmyhal, this is an important step for the implementation of large-scale projects, made possible by the agreement on the ribbon partnership between Ukraine and Great Britain.

The Minister of Defense stated that he and Gili separately discussed the possibilities of joint strategic industrial projects in the field of air defense and long-range weapons, the prospects of localizing the production of Swedish Gripen aircraft, which contain the technologies of British companies, the strengthening of the protection of the Ukrainian sea and the preparation for the “Ramstein” meeting, which will take place in February.

The British side has not yet commented on the details of the signed document.

The visit of the Minister of Defense of Great Britain, John Gealy, took place against the background of another massive attack by the Russian Federation on Ukraine.
