On Monday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, Petr Matsinka, held a conversation with the Ambassador of Ukraine, Vasyl Zvarych, after his public reaction to the anti-Ukrainian statements of the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Tomio Okamura.

The head of the diplomatic department met with the diplomat after Zvarych criticized anti-Ukrainian statements in the New Year speech of the speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Tomio Okamura. Matsinka said that he did not consider it appropriate for the ambassador of a foreign country to publicly evaluate the statements of one of the highest constitutional officials of the Czech Republic.

According to Matsinka, today’s meeting took place in a serious atmosphere. It was not the ambassador’s challenge. This measure is used in diplomacy as a form of protest or expression of serious concern by the host country about the state represented by the ambassador.

“Tomorrow (Tuesday) I will continue this important discussion during a telephone conversation with my Ukrainian colleague, Minister Andrii Sybiga,” Matsinka said.
