Malyuk resigns as head of the SBU. Zelensky suggested that he “focus on combat work”

Vasyl Malyuk announced that he is resigning as head of the Security Service of Ukraine. This is stated in the press service of the SBU.

He said that it remains in the SBU system to “carry out world-class asymmetric special operations that will continue to cause maximum damage to the enemy.”

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, said that he had a meeting with the head of the Security Service of Ukraine, Vasyl Malyuk, thanked him “for combat work and offered to focus on this kind of work.”

“There should be more Ukrainian asymmetric operations against the occupier and the Russian state, more of our strong results in destroying the enemy. Vasyl Vasyliovych is the best at this and will continue to do this in the SBU system,” he wrote in a telegram.

Zelensky instructed Vasyl Malyuk to make the direction of “Ukrainian asymmetric operations the strongest in the world.”

The president also reported on a meeting with the head of the Special Operations Center “A” of the Security Service of Ukraine, Yevgeny Khmara, with whom he discussed the possibilities of systemic development of the Security Service of Ukraine and special operations that are currently being prepared.

Earlier, a number of mass media reported that the resignation of Vasyl Malyuk from the position of head of the SBU is possible. He headed the special service since February 2023.

According to the legislation, the chairman of the Security Service of Ukraine is appointed and dismissed by the Verkhovna Rada at the request of the president.
