The current agreement of the French goalkeeper runs until the summer of 2026, but the club does not want to bring the situation to the last season of the contract. After a period of strained relations between the parties, dialogue has been resumed, and the Rossoneri management is determined to keep one of the team’s key players.
Milan sporting director Igli Tare has stepped up contact with Mengiano’s agents and the parties have already agreed on an important meeting to take place after the match against Cagliari on January 2.
The club is ready to offer the 30-year-old goalkeeper a significant salary increase – a fixed amount of 5.5 million euros per year, which is almost double his current salary. The contract will also include bonuses of up to 1 million euros for team achievements, including winning Serie A or qualifying for the Champions League.
In Milan, such an offer is considered fully in line with the status of Megnano, although the financial aspect is not decisive for the goalkeeper himself. Despite interest from Europe’s top clubs, neither side has yet reached an agreement with the Frenchman over a possible free transfer in the future.
In the current season, Mike Magnan played 19 matches for Milan in all competitions, conceded 16 goals, received one yellow card and kept eight clean sheets.
