Forecasters of the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center forecast cloudy weather with light snow in northern and most western regions on Friday, January 2, 2026, while significant precipitation is not expected in the rest of the country.

The main danger factor remains ice on the roads, which requires special caution from drivers and pedestrians. The temperature background will remain heterogeneous: the coldest night with frosts of up to 14 degrees is predicted in the north and east, while in the southern regions and Crimea the air will warm up to 7 degrees during the day.
Meteorologists pay particular attention to the strengthening of the southwesterly wind, the speed of which will be 7-12 m/s on average. However, during the day, sharp gusts up to 15–20 m/s are possible throughout Ukraine, and in the Carpathians and Prykarpattia, the wind may increase to storm values of 25 m/s. Such weather conditions are associated with the movement of atmospheric fronts, which will bring a gradual increase in temperature after severe New Year’s frosts, but will be accompanied by blizzards in mountainous areas.
Tomorrow will also be cloudy in the capital and the Kyiv region, with light snow and ice expected. The night temperature in Kyiv will drop to 9-11 degrees of frost, but already in the afternoon the thermometers will rise to a mark of about 0 degrees. Forecasters stress that such temperature fluctuations, combined with humidity and strong winds, can create discomfort, so residents are advised to dress warmly and monitor storm warnings from local civil protection services.
