In the conditions of a war economy, corporate social responsibility loses the status of an image privilege. Given the energy threats, the lack of personnel and growing requirements for openness, companies are taking on part of the responsibility for the reliability of vital systems.
For SPP Development Ukraine, 2024–2025 was a stage of strengthening the systemic approach to corporate social responsibility. The company focused on the combination of energy independence, development of human potential and organizational maturity as interdependent elements of a long-term strategy.
Basics of safety for children and social institutions It is about supporting social institutions for which the availability of stable electricity supply is a matter of elementary security. The most characteristic example was the project for the Kyiv orphanage-boarding home, where 86 wards currently live.
With the beginning of a large-scale war, the institution found itself in a difficult situation. The generator, which previously partially met the institution’s needs, finally broke down and was beyond repair. In 2024, SPP Development Ukraine installed a rooftop solar power plant and an independent backup power system at the boarding house: three hybrid inverters with a total capacity of 15 kW and batteries with a capacity of 15 kWh. The company subsequently expanded the system, increasing the total energy storage capacity to 30 kWh to ensure stable operation of the facility even during extended blackouts.

Currently, the system is actually the only source of electricity for all the needs of the orphanage in periods of absence of centralized power supply: educational and household processes, functioning of the kitchen and storage of medicines. There are 86 children with various forms of disabilities permanently staying at the institution. The presence of electricity directly affects their psychological state: interruptions in light, especially at night and during air raids, greatly increase fear and disorientation, while light gives a sense of security.

Nadia Petruchenko, co-founder and business development director of SPP Development Ukraine
Uninterrupted power supply of such institutions is a matter of respect and stability. We want our aid not to be a one-time response to a crisis, but to create permanent conditions in which people can feel protected even in the most difficult times.
A systematic approach guarantees a long-term effect of social programs, the company emphasizes. Since 2019, assistance to the orphanage has turned from point support to complex infrastructure solutions.

Roman Petruchenko, CEO and co-founder of the group
The main principle of corporate social responsibility of SPP Development Ukraine is to invest in the stability and safety of those who need it most.
Investments in education Guaranteeing the reliable operation of social institutions solves urgent humanitarian problems. At the same time, the company emphasizes: long-term stability of the energy sector is impossible without investment in human capital – specialists who will develop, maintain and expand such solutions in the future.
Therefore, the development of professional and technical education is a separate strategic direction. In 2025, the company joined the project “Public-private partnership for the improvement of professional education in Ukraine”, which is implemented with the financial assistance of Swiss Development & Cooperation and with the participation of Swisscontact and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. As part of the partnership, the company organized full-fledged educational and practical sessions for students at its facilities.

During 2025, three educational and familiarization events were held for students from Chernihiv, Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia. According to the results of the sessions, three students of the Zaporizhia Higher Vocational School “Motor Builder” have already expressed their desire to undergo industrial training at SPP Development Ukraine, which is scheduled for the period from May 7 to June 26, 2026.
“Professional education is impossible without real expertise,” emphasizes Roman Petruchenko. – It is important for students to see with their own eyes how engineering solutions work, understand the intricacies of processes and feel the responsibility that a specialist in this field bears. This is how a balanced choice of profession is formed.”

In 2026, SPP Development Ukraine plans to expand the educational direction. Study trips will be organized for professional education institutions from Odesa, Volodymyrets, Stryi, Svalyava and Kovel. At the same time, the team started developing its own course of theoretical and practical classes in order to systematize the acquired experience and expand the training opportunities of young specialists. The company is confident that this is a strategic investment in the formation of a personnel reserve and the stability of the energy sector in the long term.
International recognition A responsible approach to corporate social responsibility is increasingly becoming part of the international dialogue on business sustainability, security and accountability. The systematic social initiatives of SPP Development Ukraine have already received recognition from global institutions: for the second year in a row, the company has won the UN Global Compact “Partnership for Sustainable Development” competition.
This year’s competition became a record-breaking scale. About 200 initiatives from all over the world submitted applications, 93 projects from 22 countries made it to the finals, the evaluation was carried out by an independent international jury with the participation of experts from Harvard University, the London School of Economics, the World Economic Forum and the Basel Institute on Governance. The victory of the Ukrainian company in the competition proves that local solutions in the field of renewable energy can meet the highest international standards.
SPP Development Ukraine received a gold award for a project aimed at increasing the energy independence of medical facilities Anov.
In 2024–2025, the company installed two autonomous backup power systems in the hospitals of Boryslava (Lviv region) and Korostyshev (Zhytomyr region). In Boryslav, the backup power system ensures the stable operation of a state hospital with one of the few palliative wards in the country, where patients with serious and incurable diseases receive help at the expense of the state.

In conditions of regular power outages, this is extremely important for the continuity of the medical infrastructure. According to the company’s calculations, installed energy solutions annually contribute to the provision of medical care to approximately 12,500 patients.

International awards confirm compliance with standards, but the main criterion of effectiveness for the company remains tangible impact on the ground. That is why a significant part of CSR projects of SPP Development Ukraine is focused on the energy independence of critical social infrastructure in Ukrainian communities.
Anti-corruption practices and global rules of the game Expansion of infrastructural and educational initiatives requires not only technical competence, but also clear rules of interaction with partners, contractors and international donors. Therefore, the social projects of SPP Development Ukraine are directly related to the organizational maturity of the business and the transparency of internal processes.
The company actively participates in anti-corruption initiatives. In 2025, it joined the 11th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention against Corruption COSP11 as part of the Private Sector Forum. According to Nadiya Petruchenko, automation of key processes, centralized data management and transparent audits reduce the space for subjective decisions and mistakes and make the company more predictable for partners.
