Details: As stated, the Government of Croatia has decided to redistribute funds within the framework of the state budget for 2025, allocating 235.7 million euros for major defense procurement programs.

The funding will be used to pay upfront payments for the acquisition of CAESAR Mk2 wheeled self-propelled howitzers, including associated systems and equipment, as well as the purchase of Leopard 2A8 main battle tanks, trainers and long-term logistical support with an extended warranty.

In addition to the procurement of heavy ground systems, the government also approved a separate reallocation of just under €14 million to the Foreign and European Affairs Ministry.

These funds will be used for Croatia’s contribution to NATO’s PURL mechanism, designed to coordinate the procurement and delivery of military equipment to Ukraine based on operational needs.

Earlier it became known that Romania decided to support the PURL initiative, contributing 50 million euros.

It was also reported that Portugal ready to make EUR 50 million to the PURL mechanism.
