According to the investigation, the organizer of the scheme was the commander of the unit, who involved an old acquaintance of his, a subordinate, in the arrangement. During May-October, they wrote off diesel fuel and gasoline almost every ten days, simultaneously submitting applications for their receipt allegedly for combat missions.
The accused took the stolen fuel to the Zaporizhzhia region. According to preliminary data, in a few months they appropriated more than 17 tons of diesel fuel and gasoline.
The law enforcement officers documented the illegal activity of the military during the regular unloading of “decommissioned” fuel.
During the searches, official documents, 980 liters of diesel and 800 liters of gasoline, and other evidence of illegal activities were seized.
Both defendants were informed of the suspicion of theft of military property, with abuse of official position, according to a prior conspiracy by a group of persons, committed under martial law. They face up to 15 years in prison. The suspects were taken into custody.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing. The total amount of stolen fuel and possible accomplices in the crime are being established.
At the same time, measures are being taken to compensate for the damages caused to the state.
