Later, the Russian authorities confirmed the drone strikes.

In a statement, the regional headquarters claims that the pier in the seaport and the territory of the oil refinery were under attack.

“The fire was quickly extinguished on one of the piers. The fire was also extinguished on the territory of the refinery – on an area of 300 square meters,” the statement said.

The Tuapsin Oil Refinery, owned by the state company “Rosneft”, is the only Russian refinery on the Black Sea coast and is among the ten largest in the Russian Federation.

The facility has repeatedly been the target of drone attacks by the Security Service of Ukraine and the Main Directorate of Intelligence. The Ukrainian Defense Forces systematically attack the enemy’s oil and gas infrastructure to reduce the Kremlin’s export revenues and complicate the logistics of the occupying army.
