In Melitopol, which is currently under occupation, residents faced the problem of a lack of cash in ATMs in the pre-New Year period.
According to the Center of National Resistance, residents of the city actually lost access to cash, which was caused by the appearance of frequent technical failures, which the occupation administration claims.
This is happening against the background of the general instability of the financial system in the temporarily occupied territories, where inefficient operation of terminals and lack of trust in cashless payments lead to the dependence of the population on cash.
In addition, it is known that the cash that remains in circulation is mainly distributed for the needs of the occupation authorities and their related enterprises. This causes social tension among local residents who cannot get the necessary funds, and indicates the use of financial restrictions as a tool of population control.
