This disease affects the facial nerve, causing sudden weakness or complete paralysis of the muscles on one side of the face. The cause of this condition was an aggressive virus that attacked the player’s nervous system.
The disease manifested itself so acutely that Lucas temporarily lost the ability to fully close his eyes, smile and control facial expressions. The situation gained notoriety after Ocampos was rumored to have been injured during a skateboarding mishap, but viral paralysis was the real reason for his absence from the Monterrey lineup.
Palsy of the facial nerve (Bell’s palsy), which occurred as a complication after a viral infection. Symptoms: Facial asymmetry, inability to control facial muscles and risk of vision damage due to inability to close the eye.
