“We assume that there will be constant attacks – we are forming a stockpile of equipment, restoring damaged ones, working 24/7,” the Acting Minister noted.
According to him, if the shelling stops, blackout schedules in Ukraine can be canceled within two months.
“Calculations were made recently. If the strikes stopped now, it would take two months to restore the power system,” he emphasized.
He added that Russia is trying to destroy not only electricity supply, but also heat supply in cities in order to divide society. To achieve the latter goal, the Russian Federation also seeks to divide Ukraine’s energy system.
“The loss of the integrity of the energy system can lead to a significant deterioration of the energy supply on the Left Bank and in certain regions of the Right Bank. This will allow them to promote narratives that will divide society. Therefore, the goal is unlikely to be a blackout, because we will repair, reconnect and get out of it,” – emphasized acting the minister
He recalled that since September, Russia resumed mass attacks on Ukraine’s energy system, and stated that “there have never been such dense and targeted attacks.”
“In the three months of autumn, 8,000 MW of generation was damaged. By December, about half of this capacity was restored, but the attacks do not stop. Russia attacks not only power plants, but also power grids, substations and gas production infrastructure. On December 26, there were nine massive strikes, every 10-15 days,” Nekrasov noted.
According to him, energy facilities in the semi-circle from Chernihiv to Odesa are shelled every day.
“At the end of December, more than 2,000 strikes on power grids and about 440 strikes on power facilities were recorded. Russians knock out an average of 60 transformers a month,” Nekrasov emphasized.
The attacks of the Russian Federation on the energy system of Ukraine – the latest newsOn December 27, Russia once again massively attacked Kyiv and the region with drones and ballistics. The enemy’s main target was the energy infrastructure.
Due to the consequences of the enemy attack, emergency shutdowns continue to be applied on the left bank of Kyiv. According to the general director of Yasno Serhiy Kovalenko, energy companies tried several times to return to the schedule of hourly outages on the Left Bank of the capital, but due to damage to the networks, they had to return to emergency outages.
However, energy expert Gennadiy Ryabtsev expects that in the near future there will be hourly blackout schedules throughout the capital.
