The leader of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, signed a decree on year-round conscription of Russian citizens for military service in 2026 – 261,000 people are planned to be conscripted.

Details: According to the document, 261,000 people are planned to be drafted in 2026 in the Russian Federation. Citizens of Russia between the ages of 18 and 30 who are not in the reserve are subject to conscription.

The decree states that, in accordance with the changes in the legislation, the draft of citizens will take place throughout the calendar year. During this period, medical examination, professional psychological selection, as well as meetings of draft commissions will be conducted.

At the same time, conscripts will be sent to places of military service, as before, twice a year: from April 1 to July 15 and from October 1 to December 31.

The decree also provides for the release from military service of citizens who are in conscription and whose term has ended.

• In 2023, the State Duma of the Russian Federation raised the conscription age of men to 30 yearsbanned people with a summons from leaving the country and increased the fine for failure to appear at the military commissariat by 10 times.
