More than half a hundred weather probes from Belarus flew to Poland for Christmas

On the night before Christmas, 59 meteorological probes with contraband flew from Belarus to Poland.

Details: It is noted that the police and border guards found balloons with a cargo of cigarettes, as well as the packages themselves and GPS-devices for determining the location.

Officials found most of the contraband in the Podlaskie Voivodeship, 4 cases of illegal border crossing were recorded in the Lublin Voivodeship.

It is noted that the balloons flew even at an altitude of 9,000 meters.

RMF FM adds that these incidents burden the monitoring systems and also cause problems for the residents of the border areas. In particular, in the Lublin region, one of the cargo probes cut off the power grid, depriving many consumers of electricity.

Prehistory:

• Earlier in Poland, it was reported about a “tense night” for the military because of the Russian military plane over the Baltic Sea near the Polish territory, as well as the intrusion of weather probes with contraband from the territory of Belarus.
• The Polish Bureau of National Security believes that the incident involving weather probes that invaded Polish airspace from Belarus on December 25 was a provocation disguised as smuggling.
