The former forward of Liverpool, Newcastle and the national team of England, Andy Carroll, was facing the threat of imprisonment.

According to The Sun, the 36-year-old football player faces a prison term after being detained at the airport, related to the violation of legal norms. According to reports, Carroll was arrested at a British airport in violation of a restraining order. Usually, such orders are issued in the context of family conflicts or domestic violence.

Although the detention incident itself happened earlier, he was detained on April 27, 2025 at Stansted Airport immediately after arriving from France, where he played for Bordeaux. The border guards saw the warning in the passport control system and called the police. The case took a critical turn just now, when the prosecutor’s office put forward a demand for a real term of punishment.

Under British law, a violation is punishable by up to 5 years in prison. If the court finds Carroll’s offense serious enough, he could face prison time, effectively putting an end to his future professional football career.
