The prosecutor’s office of the Odesa region sent an indictment to the court against a 22-year-old resident of Bilhorod-Dnistrovsky district, who in July 2025 brutally beat a 23-year-old serviceman in order to take money from him for his injuries.
This was reported by the communications department of the Odesa Oblast police.
The investigation established that the perpetrator found out about the presence of a significant sum in the account of a familiar soldier and took him to the shore of the estuary, where he tortured the victim for several hours, tying his hands with plastic ties. Under the pressure of violence, the soldier transferred 29,000 hryvnias to the attacker, and later he was forced to withdraw another 20,000 hryvnias from the ATM due to the established limits on bank transactions.
As a result of bullying, the defender of Ukraine received serious injuries, including a closed craniocerebral injury, a concussion, and a broken nose. After receiving the money, the attacker left the wounded man near the hospital and tried to run away, but the operatives detained him on a hot trail for several hours. During the search of the suspect’s apartment, evidence of involvement in the crime was found, although he had already managed to spend part of the stolen money on his own needs.
The perpetrator’s actions are classified as robbery, committed under martial law and combined with causing serious bodily harm, which entails long imprisonment with full confiscation of property. Law enforcement officers stress that such cynical attacks on servicemen who lost their health while defending Russia are an aggravating circumstance that will be taken into account by the court when passing the final verdict. The accused is currently in custody without bail.
In the Lviv region, the police detained a man who is suspected of beating a serviceman from a neighboring village. The victim, who was undergoing rehabilitation, suffered serious injuries and was hospitalized for intensive care.
In Odesa, a defender of Mariupol, recently released from captivity, was beaten.
