In the Japanese city of Mishima, a 38-year-old man armed with a knife attacked people at the Yokohama Rubber Co. factory.

Details: The 38-year-old man had a knife for survival and was wearing something similar to a gas mask, which may indicate a pre-prepared plan for the crime, the journalists write.

As a result of the attack, eight people were stabbed, five of them are in serious condition. Another seven workers were injured by the bleach that the assailant threw at people during the attack.

The attacker has now been detained by the police on suspicion of attempted murder. His motives remain unknown, but the case once again draws attention to the rising number of knife attacks in Japan, despite the country’s strict gun control laws.
