Ukraine received almost 64 million euros from Sweden to strengthen the energy system and restore infrastructure damaged by the war. A significant part of the funds will go to nuclear safety and the purchase of equipment for distributed generation in critically energy-deficient regions. Financial support allows not only to repair the destroyed, but also to launch new power plants. This is reported by the Ministry of Energy Telegram.

The Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) transferred EUR 63.82 million to the Energy Support Fund of Ukraine. The total aid from Sweden now amounts to EUR 203.08 million. From this amount, 44.68 million euros were sent to a special account for ensuring nuclear safety.

The Ministry of Energy reported that these funds have already allowed for the purchase of equipment for the distributed generation development project. We are talking about the regions that suffer the most from electricity shortages. “Also, important equipment for NEC Ukrenergo and distribution system operators of Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, and Chernihiv regions was purchased with SIDA funds,” the department noted.

Deputy Minister of Energy Roman Andarak emphasized the importance of the contribution of Swedish partners: “Thanks to this support, we not only rebuild what was destroyed by the enemy, but also put new generating capacities into operation,” he said.

This assistance allows not only to repair damaged objects, but also to strengthen Ukraine’s energy stability, reduce dependence on external supplies and increase the reliability of the energy grid.
