The law enforcement officers informed about the suspicion of two officials of the Chernivtsi city council due to the fact of abuse of their official position as part of an organized group. It is about one of the heads of the department and the deputy head of the department.

According to the investigation, the officials concluded a contract for the purchase of crushed stone to repair one of the streets of Chernivtsi at an inflated price of almost UAH 3.5 million. The supplier company delivered the products at an inflated cost, and the employees signed the relevant documents, which made it possible to make settlements with the contractor and cause losses to the budget.
BEB detectives in the Chernivtsi region informed the suspects about the suspicion. The sanction of the articles provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to six years.
Procedural management is carried out by the Chernivtsi Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
