According to KCNA, the test, which was aimed at evaluating the country’s strategic nuclear technology in the development of a new type of long-range missile, destroyed targets in the air at a distance of 200 km.

Kim also oversaw construction work on an 8,700-ton nuclear submarine capable of launching surface-to-air missiles.
The submarine construction project is part of the North Korean ruling party’s efforts to modernize the country’s navy, KCNA reports. And this is one of the five key theses that the party promotes for the development of its defense capabilities.
Kim stated that the comprehensive development of nuclear potential and the modernization of the naval forces are necessary and inevitable because “the modern world is by no means peaceful.”
Kim also noted that South Korea’s plan to develop a nuclear submarine under the agreement with Washington will further exacerbate tensions on the Korean Peninsula and pose a threat to national security, requiring him to take appropriate measures.
In a separate statement, North Korean state media criticized the recent entry of US nuclear submarines into South Korean waters, calling it an “act of escalating military tensions” on the Korean Peninsula and the region.
