According to a source, the Mancunians made a competitive offer but were aware of strong competition from Manchester City and late interest from Chelsea. All the clubs that approached the 25-year-old player offered similar financial conditions, and Manchester United did not raise their salary offer higher than rivals.
At the club, Semenyo was seen primarily as a winger or attacking player, rather than a full-back. Head coach Ruben Amorim’s system was not a factor in the player’s decision. The choice of the Ghanaian was based on the attractiveness of the sports project, not on money.
It is also noted that Liverpool abandoned the idea of a transfer for Semenyo after negotiations in November, and an injury to Alexander Isak prevented the club from returning to this option in December.
In the current season, Antoine Semenho played 17 matches in which he scored 8 goals and provided 3 assists. Earlier it was reported that Manchester City was able to beat all competitors in the fight for the Ghanaian striker.
