To cross the border, the car driver will be required to reserve a place in the queue.
Queue control will be carried out through the Driver’s Office / photo facebook.com/DPSUkraineThe Ministry of Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine is preparing a pilot project for crossing the state border by passenger cars through the eCherga electronic system. The new rules are planned to be launched in a test mode at one of the checkpoints.
The press service of the Ministry of Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine, in response to a request from UNIAN, reported that according to the draft rules, in order to cross the border, the driver of a passenger car will be required to reserve a place in the waiting line in one of three ways:
- through the eCherga web portal or application;
- using a mobile application or the Diya portal;
- automatically by means of the electronic system when the passenger car enters the waiting area.
Queue control will be carried out through the Driver’s Office. Users will be able to monitor the status of their place in the queue and the specified time of entry to the checkpoint, as well as receive notifications about changes in status and enter the territory of the checkpoint accordingly.
The Ministry of Development noted that the experimental project is planned to be implemented at one of the international checkpoints after the Ministry of Justice registers an order approving the Duty Rules, as well as after determining the list of checkpoints that will participate in the experiment for the movement of passenger cars.
The department added that the scaling of “eCherga” for cars at other checkpoints is possible, subject to a successful experimental project at one checkpoint.
The electronic queue at the border – the main news In 2023, an electronic border crossing queue for trucks was launched at the Yagodin-Dorogusk international road checkpoint on the border with Poland. YeCherga was supposed to reduce the idle time of trucks directly at the border. Also, the key task of the system was to calculate the approximate time of crossing the border. In May 2023, the electronic border crossing queue for trucks started working immediately at 16 checkpoints.
In April 2024, the electronic queue service for buses started working on the border of Ukraine with Moldova. At 10 checkpoints with Moldova, each bus was given the opportunity to choose the time of crossing the border within the “eCherga” service.
From September 10, 2025, the border crossing procedure for drivers of commercial vehicles has changed in Ukraine. Licensed carriers need to fill in data only in the “eCherga” system, and it is not necessary to create an “18-60” application (called “Path”).
