The Polish side will conduct search and exhumation works in the village of Ugly, Rivne region, in March-April 2026.
This was reported by the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine.
The agency noted that on December 19, 2025, a scouting visit took place in Ugla with the participation of Ukrainian and Polish specialists. The purpose of the trip was to discuss preparations for future research planned for next spring.
During the visit, the parties, with the participation of representatives of state authorities and local self-government, inspected the location of search operations, agreed on approximate terms of their implementation, and also discussed issues of logistics, research methodology, necessary resources and security measures. Particular attention was paid to security aspects in view of the ongoing full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation.
The Ministry of Culture reminded that permission for the Polish side to conduct search and exhumation works in the village of Ugly was granted earlier within the framework of intergovernmental cooperation.
The newly elected President of Poland, Karol Nawrocki, appealed to the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, with a request to start large-scale exhumation of the victims of the Volyn tragedy.
In the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine categorically denied rumors about the alleged withdrawal of permission for the exhumation of those killed during the Volyn tragedy in Ternopil Oblast.
