Shabunin’s direct speech: “Kravchenko refused to register a statement about the crime of merging my private photos (from the phone seized by the State Security Bureau). We will force the Prosecutor General to do it through the court – a corresponding complaint has already been filed.”

Details: According to him, only “prosecutors Kravchenko and Sukhachov’s DBR” had access to the seized phone with that photo.
“Obviously, they didn’t commit the crime on their own initiative, so Kravchenko is simply saving his own skin. This is another proof that the prosecutor general is worthless and a coward,” Shabunin believes.
Shabunin clarified that he submitted the application on December 18 and Article 214 of the Criminal Procedure Code obliges him to submit information within 24 hours. “After waiting four days, I went to court,” he said.

What happened before:
- On July 11, the SBI notified Shabunin of suspicion of evasion of military service and fraud. After the searches, Shabunin called President Volodymyr Zelenskyi a “tsar” and said that he was taking “confident steps towards corrupt authoritarianism.”
- On August 14, the SBI staff completed the investigation of the criminal proceedings against Vitaliy Shabunin, the head of the board of the NGO “Center for Combating Corruption”, after reviewing the case materials by the defense, the indictment will be submitted to the court.
- The SBI also stated that on August 14, it returned to the suspect the electronic gadgets seized during the search of his place of residence. The decision to return was made after all necessary procedural actions had been taken.
- The investigation blames Shabunin that, having been mobilized in 2022, he allegedly did not show up for duty for a long time and, under the guise of “business trips”, stayed in civilian institutions that do not belong to the defense forces. He is also accused of receiving a monthly allowance, despite his absence from service, which, according to the investigation, caused more than 224,000 hryvnias of damage to the state.
