The state carrier “Ukrzaliznytsia” significantly expanded the offer of seats for the period of Christmas and New Year holidays, launching 16 additional trains, trailer cars and increasing the frequency of regular flights.
As the press service of the company reports, the main emphasis is traditionally placed on the western direction to provide conditions for recreation and rehabilitation of military personnel and families with children. Part of these routes in January 2026 will become part of the large-scale program “3000 km through Ukraine”.
The geography of additional connections covers key regional centers and popular mountain resorts. In particular, flights are scheduled from Kyiv to Rakhov (No. 255/256), Ivano-Frankivsk (No. 271/272), Uzhhorod (No. 237/238), Truskavets (No. 159/160), as well as to Dnipro, Odesa, Lutsk, and Kharkiv. The Lviv direction has been significantly strengthened, where several additional trains will run at once, including Intercity+ high-speed trains No. 741/742 and No. 777/778. A separate holiday train No. 168/167 has also been launched from Odesa to Lviv, and passengers from the Dnipro region will be able to use additional Dnipro-Lviv trailer cars.
Railway operators pay attention to well-thought-out logistics for convenient transfers in the direction of ski resorts. For example, train No. 291 Kyiv – Lviv has only a 35-minute connection with a flight to Chop via Slavsko and Mukachevo. Also, residents of Kyiv arriving by train No. 289 can conveniently change in Lviv to a modern diesel train to Vorokhta, which goes via Yaremche and Bukovel. Tickets for the holiday dates are already gradually appearing on sale in the application, chatbots and station ticket offices.
From December 24 to 26 and from December 29 to 31, Kyiv City Express (Kyiv City Express, JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia”) will run test shuttles between Darnytsia and Vydubychi stations during morning and evening rush hours.
