Direct speech: “Almost 18 million have already applied for winter support. Tomorrow we can go to that number. It is important that the application is made before Christmas. This is the last day for making applications. […] We see that these forms of support really work. Direct support, and not only in our country. America, Europe and other parts of the world are forming their direct support programs in one way or another. We will predict new ones for next year.”

Details: Zelenskyi emphasized that applications for “Winter Support” ends on December 24however, citizens will be able to use the accrued funds during the first half of next year – until June 2026.
Mass direct payments (“helicopter money”) in the West were used mainly as an emergency measure during periods of crisis.
The most famous example is the USA, where during the COVID-19 pandemic, the American economy suffered from a demand crisis (people sat at home and did not spend money). Then the state handed out checks in the amount of up to 1,400 dollars, which helped to support consumer demand and the solvency of the population in conditions of uncertainty.
What preceded:
- Acceptance of applications to receive UAH 1,000 within the framework of the “Winter Support” program started November 15.
- The number of stores where you can pay for products with the funds of “Winter Support” and “National Cashback”, grew up to more than 1,780. Ten retail chains are already participating in the program.
- US President Donald Trump in early November promised to pay to Americans, other than high-income earners, customs revenue dividends of at least $2,000.
