As of now, the meteorological winter has not yet covered the territory of Ukraine. However, the situation may change in the near future with the arrival of significant cooling.
The representative of the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center Nataliya Ptuha reported the relevant information in an exclusive interview with Channel 24.
When will meteorological winter come?
Already after December 24, according to the representative of the Ukrhydrometeorological center, the air temperature will drop significantly. In some areas, particularly on the Left Bank, thermometers may drop to 13 degrees below zero.
“Starting from December 24, most likely, many weather stations will begin to switch to meteorological winter. Today, we still have mostly positive values in most regions, so there is no stable transition yet.”
– Nataliya Ptukha said.
She added that currently only in the Volyn, Rivne and Chernivtsi regions the temperature is close to normal. But soon, due to the cooling, it will level off as in December in other regions as well.

Ukrainians are predicted a mild winter with snow and short bouts of arctic cold.
Also the winter of 2025–2026 in Ukraine will be unstable and mostly mild – with short periods of cooling, but without long frosts and permanent snow cover.
