A record daily passenger flow was recorded at checkpoints in the Lviv region — more than 75,000 citizens crossed the state border.
This was reported by the Western Regional Office of the State Border Service of Ukraine.
The intensity of traffic increased sharply against the background of Christmas and New Year trips, when a large part of Ukrainians return home.
Border guards note that the number of people entering Ukraine is significantly greater than those leaving, which immediately affects the load on the infrastructure.
The flow of people entering is now more than 14,000 people leaving – this creates a peak load on checkpoints and related services. As a result, some areas work at the limit of their technical capabilities.
The border service warns that the waiting time at the border inevitably increases during such periods.
The most problematic situation remains at the checkpoints “Sheghini” and “Krakivets”, where hundreds of cars are waiting to enter Ukraine.
Additional difficulties are created by the lack of a pre-booking system for buses, due to which carriers arrive chaotically. This complicates work planning and leads to local traffic jams at the approaches to the border.
We will remind you that the government has updated the rules for driving along the M-15 highway and the conditions for crossing the border in Odesa.
Also, long queues formed on the border with Poland before Christmas.
