Direct speech: “There are bad calendar coincidences – and the war made many such changes. When days of tragedies fall on days of professional holidays. Or when there are several completely different professional days on one day from Soviet times and the first years of independence. All this should be arranged.
Thanks to everyone who will help. Just as the real Christmas was taken lightly – on December 25 – so other dates should be fair and correct. Thank you to everyone who works for our state and people”!
We will remind:
- On July 14, 2023, the Council moved the state date of Christmas to December 25 according to the New Julian church calendar.
- And in two weeks Volodymyr Zelenskyi finally signed the law, which changes the dates of public holidays, in particular, the date of Christmas.
- Support for December 25 as a date of celebration has grown significantly since the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation. In 2021, only 26% of Ukrainians were ready to move the date of the celebration from January 7 to December 25. At the same time, in December 2022, almost half of the respondents already agreed to this.
- In 2024, 53% of Ukrainians celebrated Christmas on December 25, and in 2023 – 42%.
