It is noted that the rescuers evacuated the victims from the damaged locomotives and handed them over to the “ambulance” medics.
In addition, sappers of the State Emergency Service inspected the territory for the presence of explosive objects.
“All fires have been extinguished, restoration work is ongoing,” the message reads.
The State Emergency Service added that emergency workers, representatives of all emergency services, “Ukrzaliznytsia” and volunteers of the Ukrainian Red Cross are working on the spot.
Accident on the railway near KorostenOn the morning of December 22, Ukrzaliznytsia reported that a freight train derailed near Korosten in Zhytomyr Oblast, as a result of which a number of flights were delayed for several hours.
In addition, the locomotive crew of passenger train 45/46 Kharkiv-Uzhgorod, which was heading along the adjacent track, was forced to stop the train urgently – the locomotive derailed. There were no injured passengers on the train. Only one passenger has a glass cut, she was treated on the spot.
At the same time, the driver and assistant of the freight train were injured and hospitalized.
Subsequently, the UZ added that, according to preliminary information, the freight train was hit as a result of the detonation, probably of a Shahed-type UAV. Currently, investigative actions are ongoing, law enforcement officers and employees of special services will be able to provide more details.
