Details: The report on threats related to drones has been compiled since the beginning of the year and includes “all data on suspicious incidents”. Information from the German Armed Forces is also included. “Military facilities, airports and other critical infrastructure facilities, such as weapons manufacturers and port facilities, were the most affected,” said BKA head Holger Münch.

He told Bild that there was a “significant level of threat”.
When asked whether drones are always controlled by Russian entities, Münch replied: “We don’t know that with absolute certainty.” This is also due to the fact that even finding and questioning drone pilots is very difficult. However, in many cases, Munch suspects, this is “apparently” state-controlled activity aimed at spreading uncertainty.
In addition to the psychological impact, drone flights can also serve to gather intelligence. Münch specifically mentioned the flights over military facilities, saying: “There are frequent flights over military facilities in Germany, where Ukrainian soldiers are also being trained, who may have smartphones on them. The drone measures which smartphones are present, and then may be able to detect them again on the Ukrainian front.”
Last week, the federal and state governments opened in Berlin Joint Drone Defense Center (GDAZ) to better detect and neutralize drones flying illegally. The start of work is planned for January.
At the beginning of the month, the federal police received a unit defense against drones, which will soon have 130 specialists. It will be located at airports, in the capital and across the country near security-critical facilities. It will use, among other things, jamming systems supported by artificial intelligence and automated interceptor drones.
German government repeatedly warnedthat drones pose a security threat, following a series of incursions around airports and military facilities this year.
